I realize everyone's financial situation, boat situation, and life situation is different, so I'll try not to be dogmatic. But 47% of us usually sail alone? How will we get this hobby to spread if we are essentially sailing recluses? We sail the most accessible boats there are--invite someone along!
Me, the wife, and our 2 boys (6&8) fit aboard our compac 19 fairly comfortably. We have lived aboard for a week and I think that’s about the maximum. So far, as our boys get older, they want to go out more and more. Hopefully that trend holds. Not sure how well we will still fit in a few years!
