We’ve often written about the joy of being on the water, and how water itself can bring calm. If you are stressed at the launch ramp, and if you pay attention after casting off, you cannot easily worry about pandemics, politics, troubles at work or anything else. It’s just you, your boat and the captivating, watery world.
I have to make a slight correction. I mis-named the bow wave as the "wake". As both a real sailor and a Navy sailor I should have known that instinctively!
One of my favorite memories was once on the lake on a clear day with light winds I was watching the bow cut through the water. The wake was like pure silver being sliced by a knife. It was so relaxing I almost fell asleep and run up on a reef!!
Henry - Yes, while I love shooting images of boats, the environment around is irresistible. (But it helps to be on the water in a boat, in order to be present and positioned for some of the non-boaty photos.) - Marty
Beautiful photos, thank you so much!
Just made that Walter Simmons boat tender photo my laptop's new wallpaper. Should help me get through at least December. Thanks
Sublime and heartwarming. The water surface is colorful, shimmering, textured, and instructive. Grateful for this, Marty.
Thank you for the generous comments—I like your description of the water itself, along with the images. - Marty

Marty you have the eye of a poet
Klaas - You are too generous…but what a compliment! - Marty

Great pictures Marty.
Lovely photos. Also a good reminder that there is much more to photograph than the boat. Thanks.
