Have a home in Duluth and a small sailboat. Considering doing sailing on the Superior. Guess I better get the right gear to weather forecast! Interesting story. Have experienced conditions like this on some of my former boats but they were all larger than my present 14' Welsford "Saturday Night Special!" Have subscribed to SCA for a number of years. Great publication, as is this story.
Inspiriting story plus a short history. One boater started and others joined in. Working together to create a harbor of refuge, only accessible by boaters.
Is this not boating Nirvana?
I would bring a log or board into the harbor every weekend just as an excuse to go back there.
Makes me want to start a protected haven in my area, (NC) and let sailors, little by little enjoy and contribute.

I am certainly glad I was not with you in the storm but I would love seeing the island, it sounds marvelous! Thanks for the story.
What a great tale! And, what a sweet looking boat. I suppose I need to buy the book to find out more details on it, huh? Thank you for making my day!
Happy to read about the Adventure/ and NOT experience the Adventure first hand!!!
