That is one very impressive voyage for a 12 ft dinghy. Have never seen a Scamp except in video clips. Am absolutely amazed at the capabilities of this tiny boat. Would never in a million years have expected a tiny sailboat to undertake passages such as these. Huge respect for John Welsford and all involved with her conception.
One Question: Where's the bow on that thing? As a Scamper myself, I've heard that a lot. What a great phenomenon! A Northwestern publisher commissions a boat design from a New Zealander which ends up being so successful that a Gig Harbor company makes a beautiful fiberglass version that gets shipped to Tasmania to rave reviews, and sailed in some very lumpy seas at some impressive speeds. Well done, SCAMP!
The scamp provides performance with peace of mind. What more can you ask?
Great video and the scamp shines is this one!
