I forgot about the pit sealer. Two coats.. I’ll step that a bit. Many people forget. Good advice. roger.

I've used 3 coats of clear Awlwood as sealer undercoat then 3 coats of Epifanes with great success.

It's Epifanes for me as well. I've been using it on all the brightwork and spars of my Drascombe Lugger Eloise.

I grew up on interlux #90 back in the '80's. switched to Epifanes and it was great like you say, then for a while, it wasn't. they must have changed something. Slow drying, lots of runs etc. Then i switched to the one part Awlgrip varnish and it applied well but does not hold up well. Now I am using Pettit Flagship. I may try Epifanes again based on your recommendation.
