I've sailed a few of these, have looked over a few more with a critical eye, and have to say that the range of boats here would suit a different people according to their use, their environment and their ambitions. Me, ( Excluding SCAMP but of course I have to admit a conflict of interest there) I'd pick the Sage 17 then the Norseboat. Those two though suit very different styles of cruising, so I'd have to adapt according to which one I had on its trailer outside my door.
The Com-Pac Legacy replaced the 16 models. It's a better performer with the same stability as the old. Too bad you never include the Legacy in most comparisons
This will be fun! If we follow the criteria there should be some great upsets just like in march madness. Just for the fun of it and the dialogue it would promote I hope the usual suspects go out early!
Yep ... sort of Madness but fun for some. But as Josh rightly hints, I urge no one to take this too seriously as finally, it ALWAYS depends on YOUR specific needs and priorities which boat will fit you best. But I do think Josh is making it hard by having boats of vastly different types and size, fight it our in the first couple of rounds, making the choice rather meaningless. Most of us know what sort of size we are shopping for, so I think pairing off boats of same size and type would make sense, not a 16 vs a 26 etc or a cabin boat vs a dinghy. Have fun guys, but I'm too focussed to do this.
Ok this is hilarious! There should be some fun skirmishes here! These boats are all loved, and if your boat loses it will be sadness! I’m a Scamper so you know how I feel...
Another Scamper (as you coined) -- I imagine we can only vote once (seems fair) so I'm thinking we might come up short (ha). Reminding myself already that it's about the journey, not the destination (repeat). Ha. Good times!!
I look forward to seeing how these challenges pan out. Too bad if two strong designs battle early on in the brackets. One comment, I consider a mini-cruiser an under 20' lot and feel the ease of (one person) trailerability and mast raising the determining factors for me~
I was flabbergasted to not find Bolger's Micro on the list of contenders. Perhaps there will be an awakening for next year's competition.
My "first four out" a la ESPN March Madness:
Iain Oughtred double-ender (Caledonia)
Bayraider 20
Viver design (Ilur?)
Core Sound 17
And can we hate-vote the MacGregor 26x somehow?
It’d be fun to have another completely separate round for open camp cruisers!
Where are wooden boats!!!!!
Maybe Scamp and Wayfarer but no Graham Byrnes!!!! No Chase Calendar Island designs? No Ilur???
Almost all production boats, why???

Who's the Reeferee in this smackdown?
What a brilliant idea. Man this is going to be fun. I can't wait for all the comments both pro and con. So, are we going to bet on the brackets??😜
Just kidding.
You really started something this time. I will vote as best I can on these entries but it will be difficult. Thanks for the all effort.
This is a great idea! Let’s see who wins!
More fun than a barrel o monkeys! Great idea you guys.
We stubbornly pursue even our most harebrained ideas ;-)

I guess my Bristol Corsair 24 will not participate here.. Shame, such a solid seaworthy vessel.
I would like to see the spread sheet updated with each challenge so we can refer back to this and see the current standings.
