What a treat! Perfect timing for Halloween. Roger Taylor is legendary. The interview was superb. His books & YouTube videos offer lots of information and inspiration too. Enjoyed the look-back in time perspective of this interview; back when he was planning to build Mingming II. Looks like he stayed true to his plan.
Lot's to learn from from Roger! Bilge keel advantages and the junk rig as examples. I can't cut ties and explore like that, but yern to even more after reading your interview! Thanks!!! BestRoy
Count me in! This man is the real deal. A real adventurer and a real story teller. I’m grateful to have been a fan and follower since I was introduced to his work.
I was transported into the boat with the author. I have not spent time in the Artic but know cold weather from my youth.
The fact that he took the time to change course to be with the whales and they accepted him for a while is remarkable. Thank you for sharing this story.
Wow! Wonderful! I loved the whale episode, having had a similar experience in the Pacific, myself, in the 80s. I can still picture/feel it as it was, even after the passage of so many years - you simply never forget something like that.
The Mingming part had me fascinated - all of it - even though much of the terms and technical parts went over my head.
Sailing in such cold conditions - brrrrr!
So much respect for this man - no electronics, no reading,no one else aboard - who -does- that nowadays? Thanks for letting us in on this story!
Loved the story by Roger. Reminds me of when we lived in the UK and we’d see all the bilge keel’s boats at rest at low tide on the Orwell and Stour tidal rivers.

Joshua Slocum all the way!!
Very interesting interview. I liked the junk rig & his thoughts about seaworthiness.
Fantastically detailed observations about the whales. What an encounter!

Appreciate his use of the junk rig. Sweet read.
Both the excerpt and the interview were very interesting and enjoyable.
