When I used to surf a lot down in California, my friend—who also happened to be a former ASP World Tour professional surfer—would call me to meet him. “The waves look really fun,” he’d say.
I've struggled with this simple perspective all my sailing career. I learned to sail in San Diego, where anything over 20 knots is an out and out storm. Plus I was sailing Snipes (and Lasers) where the Snipe fleet wont race in greater than 24 knots. Then I moved to Chicago and started sailing in Lake Michigan, doing Hook and Mac races. Yikes! I never got comfortable going out in plus 20 knots, but did it often when racing. Now I am going back to my roots with a 15 foot sailing dinghy. I look forward to enjoying sailing and days where it is actually fun to sail (at least for me).
What a surprise ending! So funny! All this time . . . I'm still laughing!
It's been a LOT of "fun" outside the bay the last couple weeks - for sure!!! We stayed tied to the dock!

Been on BOTH ends of that equation too…..more & more I find that extra cup of coffee @ the dock more my style!
