At Lake Titicaca, I saw reed boats needing refurbishing, necessary because the reeds become water logged. Instead of cutting fresh reeds, they were using discarded 1 or 1/2 liter water bottles for flotation, held in place by netting, then covered with a fresh layer of reeds. Considering that no place in the world is free from our trash, it should be no problem to find enough bottles.
Yikes! He aced the challenge.
