A beautifully written article about a most admirable boat. I've admired yours on several occasions while bopping around the Salish Sea. I hope you are able to keep her forever.

Back in the 80's, while cruising the East coast (Fl to Maine and back) in my English 23-footer, I felt absolute privilege to be offered to take out a Herreshoff 12-1/2-footer out of Newport. Its legend and exceptional sailing manners remains clear to this day.

And now for the downside. There is no downside! The Wizard of Bristol and his followers have kept the magic alive.

Beautiful to look at, Wonderful to sail, I'm sure I'm not the only on to see great attraction here! The gods of small boats however did not choose to make hundreds available or make them cheap to build or indeed easy to maintain. I'd love to wake tomorrow and find one on my dock along with a paid contract to keep her looking like the day she was launched. The Haven, that is. Not that Capt. Nate wasn't right to put a keel on his, that boat still does exactly what it was intended to do. But alas, I have become a shoal draft fanatic!
