After reading Paul West’s article An Improvised Sail-and-Oar Conversion, David Peebles writes:
In response to your impulse: marry in haste, repent at leisure. I've had a few boats like that, but also some good ones.
Speaking of Paul’s article, several of you asked about his rudder setup. Below please find a video he supplied:
Regarding Larry Rumbol’s article Diary of a West Wight Potter Sailor age 69 ½, reader David Peebles wrote:
A good afternoon's entertainment can be had by hanging around the boat launch, watching all the blunders and heated arguments between spouses ("I said to move it forward a foot, not to submerge the entire back end of the car!")
But one time I actually had fun waiting my turn to haul out; How can that be? you ask. Well we had been out to Sucia Island over the Labor Day weekend, and had to get in line when we came back to the ramp with our 12' Pelican sailboat; instead of idling about under outboard power to maintain station, we reached back and forth under sail (sans jib) in a perfect breeze for doing that. We must have killed the better part of an hour tacking and jibing before our turn came. I imagine we annoyed the hell out of the line of boaters stacked up behind us waiting their turn, because we were enjoying ourselves.
Mark Bratton’s wonderful cockpit tent on his Caledonia Yawl got us thinking about cockpit tents generally—and what features makes the most sense. If you have a tent or dodger setup on your boat we’d love to hear about it and see a photo. Send to: josh@smallcraftadvisor.com

I looked up the asking price: 140,000 euros. for a one person play toy. not for me.
Remember that GMRS requires an FCC license. It is different from an amateur radio license.
