Regarding active Pelican clubs in the Pacific Northwest, my daughter and I purchased a Pelican last year and have just joined the Pelican Viking Fleet 3, a group that has a series of get-together races throughout the year. Contact Terry Gosse, PO Box 65024, Shoreline, WA 98155.

The Randy Smyth interview was interesting. Catalina Island race as a young kid and current Everglades Challenge with innovative sailboat plus a huge professional career. Impressive.

I hope a Jim "Goose" Gossman story is in the works. A guy willing and able to void the warranty of a production sailboat in the pursuit of speed and fun has to be celebrated! Thanks for picture of ReGale.

I too enjoyed the interview with Randy Smyth even though his and my sailing desires are worlds apart. Clearly he enjoys his multihulls and going as fast as he can. And he's good at it.

Re the poll: I know virtually nothing about foiling. I only voted no because I'm sure I'd do some damage to my old (and aging fast) bod if I got tried to use any sort of foiler!

Dudley Dix I too grew up sailing a Dabchick on Zeekoe Vlei Uncontrolled by regulations or parents The freedom and decision making experience I gained served me for the rest of my life. Give kids the freedom to test themselves by sailing when and where they like

Considering what other watercraft are foiling, this gets a big WHY NOT! from me. It could even inspire a new racing class. Stranger thing have resulted from Wild Ass Ideas.

I hope folks take note of the 40hp outboard on Randy Smyths Potter 19. Got passed by him in Colvis Passage. Musta been doing 20mph+.
