In the 1990's the Guinnes Book of Records sailing records were moderated by Knobby Clarke. Anthony Steward sailed an open version of my TLC 19 design around the world, first open boat circumnavigation. Knobby Clarke refused Anthony's voyage as a first because he said that small boat records were becoming ridiculous. That was a 19ft boat and a great achievement. This attempt, however, is supreme folly.
That misadventure was a stunt rather than a sail. Look up my old friend Tom McClean who held the solo rowing record and sailing record for a time. He also crossed in a 37 ft steel bottle “boat” to benefit a children’s charity, among other feats.
Just came across and ordered a new book titled COMPLETELY MAD by James R. Hansen about Tom McClean and John Fairfax and their adventurous rows across the Atlantic in 1969.
This news is almost a year old. He’s been working on a “Version 2” ever since.

Dumb idea in the first place.
Three words for this man:
"Manifestly unsafe voyage."
