In truth, the only attitude that makes sense in life is the one here spoken of. Pretty much any other will unduly limit ones progress in life. This is a great reminder!

Sometimes gratitude comes later, in the comfort of a fire and toddy, but it is a fine thing to

laugh at a face full of icy spray and know that this is a lucky thing.

In those quiet times, when you appreciate the people, places, boats, and experiences, you are really counting treasures.

I’m always amazed at the boating community and specifically the sailing, rowing, paddling folks I have met over the years. I have gladly rendered aid, spare parts, knowledge and beer, and I have been given the same in return. It’s something that I wish could be In life in general but that seems too much to hope for but definitely something to promote.

Apparently, my relationship with the water is a different from yours in a minor way. When I get afloat, I am alays grateful for my freedom to leave the land. When I arrive back at the end of a trip, no matter how short, I am grateful for arriving back safely with no serious problems in between and everyone safe. When I was active at Sebago Canoe Club, one of my friends undertook to teach my son to paddle his racing kayak. My son's idea of a good time was to get away from the float and dump. He always came up laughing, as one should, but as the water was very polluted, it always bothered me.

Nicely expressed Brad. Was wondering just yesterday if I should shake the few inches of snow off our boat cover (12' fiberglass Scamp) or leave the white blanket alone. No harm. But so grateful that in just a few months, like so many, we will be able put in (Lake of the Woods, Lake Superior, and elsewhere) to see what the day on the water may have for us; to see where we may feel like going. Always new. Never gets old. Grateful indeed, and nothing quite like it!

I share your feelings, Brad, and am happy (and thankful) to say i have found more fellow sailors with similar minds everywhere I've gone.
