Reader Jay Knight completed a gorgeous B&B design. He writes:
Here is some pictures of my B&B designed Mathew Flinders 246. I built it over a period of 2.5 years. Its auxiliary power is a Torqeedo pod drive which we are delighted with. Starts every time, no noise, smell or (so far) maintenance. Trailerable, reasonably easy to rig (takes about 45 minutes), it normally stays in a marina. Has all the required comforts, refrigeration, composting head, shower, solar hot water.
Reader Lester Black has finished restoration on his classic Mirror Dinghy #38959 and launched her in southern New Hampshire.
Our friend Derek Gries put a significant spin on his build from Classic 17 plans with fantastic results. He writes:
Tons of fish over the rail already. Honda 50hp. Top speed of 30mph (when light weight). On our tuna trip of 50 miles out and back we got 1.7 gph. The boat’s been a blast—plenty of overnights. So much headroom in the cabin. And yes, I was looking at Scamp while puzzling that cabin out.Â
My favorite feature is the bait board with wash down hose. I typically use the space to lay out our dinner.Â
More of your projects soon…—Eds
Maybe it's just me but a trip report and / or write up on the classic 17 would be great!
These are all nice boats! The small fishing "Trawler" caught my eye, in paticular! The fish cleaning station is a great idea, which I may "borrow" for my new build! Thanks! BestRoy
