Squid Portable Anchor
Years ago I came across these little Squid Portable Anchors when I was looking for some sort of an anchoring solution for a Puddle Duck on the Texas 200. I had my eye out for something super light that could serve as an anchor in a pinch since stowage space was obviously extremely limited.
The little Squid is essentially a rugged mesh bag with hard plastic flukes. You fill it with up to 15 pounds of sand, rocks, or whatever else you can find, then dump the weight overboard after use if you want.
I don’t think I ever ended up using it as I beached most nights, but I was happy to have the option aboard. I have no idea how well it would work, as I think the primary market for the anchor was kayak anglers, but it’s an interesting concept. I still have some here for sale if anyone is interested—but let’s give one away free too. Leave a comment below if you’re interested and we’ll pick one lucky winner at random.
Speaking of gear, we just got another box of Tiller Clutches in stock. They have been hard to get lately, so consider ordering one now if you’re planning on one. —Josh •SCA•

I would like a “Squid” for my fishing kayak….thank you….Dan Phy
I'm curious how well the Squid holds. I'm surprised the tiller clutch is hard to find (not being made any more?).
