Reader Lonnie Black send us a follow-up note on our poll about going to the Dark Side. Lonnie writes: “We recently moved slightly over toward the dark with this Sponge Docks 16 Skiff designed and built by JF Bedard. It's a fabulous and quite handsome little craft, in spite of the lack of sails.
Although sailing will always have my heart, it's a nice ride. And, the wife prefers a boat that doesn't 'lean'...”

JF and I tested the prototype of the SDS when it was first developed. Amazingly dry Garvey type hull and quick to plane. Fun utility boat!
I was just at the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs this past week end. There are some very good restaurants there. However, I must say parking is an absolute nightmare and you can grow old and grey trying to find a spot!
A lot of interesting boats there. Next time I go I will take a few photos
