Small Craft Photo Blast Part 3
Another round...
Ted Johanson writes: I built a Core Sound 15 from the full kit that I purchased from B&B Yacht Designs, costing just over three stimulus checks (mine, my wife’s, and my mother’s — who didn’t want it.) I liked that the checks literally provided some genuine stimulus to a small boat company that I’ve come to really appreciate for their kind service and fine products. Everything needed to build my boat was part of the full kit except for screws, bolts, paint and some extra things I added.
I retired in January of 2020. At the end of April I picked up the kit at B&B’s humble but productive shop in North Carolina, and launched the finished hull in July, 2020.
I named my boat “Norma T” for my mother who died as I was completing the hull. We “christened” the boat at mom’s graveside funeral, everyone pouring some beer, wine, or soda into the anchor well. The fish-shaped mast float is named Bruce for my deceased brother. I built the boat especially thinking of it as a future heirloom for my three grandkids… a way for them to remember their great grandmother (and their great uncle.)
This is my build blog for Norma T:
In this photo my wife and I are with our two granddaughters during our local sailboat races, enjoying the gentle evening breezes.
Reader Roger Nelson sends this photo of his Houdini sailing on Huntington Lake in California on Labor Day weekend 2025 .
Here’s a shot from Mark Smith of his 24 ft x 6 ft Bolger Birdwatcher.
Thanks to contributor Frank Durant for this fun image:
And also a nice pic of a Potter 15:
Our friend Derek Gries has found the perfect additional crew…

Reader Richard Guziewicz sends two lovely images: My sailing canoe Brina (Selway-Fisher 50/50), the first ghosting across the upper Rhine from France into Germany. Low resolution only, I’m afraid.
The second, at sunset off the Mediterranean coast near the port of Sète, France.
Fairly ho-hum shots, I grant you, but they do convey, I think, a sense of the end-of-day pause between afternoon and evening breezes that most sailors will recognize.
Here’s a photo of Robert George’s boat Sponge Bob:
Doug Boyer shares this image of his son’s Northwest 21 sailing on Waldo Lake in Oregon.
Two photos from John Porter—one snap of his little yacht (Potter 15) on a mountain lake, and another that’s a view from the cockpit motoring under bare poles at Orcas Island in Washington.
James Hunt sends this stunner: This is Dave and Sharon Soulé with their boat dog Joker at the Potter Yachters Rendezvous at Lake San Antonio 10/17-16. A lovely Penobscot 17 I believe.
Kim Isaacson writes: Here’s a photo of my former boat Matti of unknown design moored on a misty morning in the Chatham Islands near Victoria BC.
Here’s a photo from Debra Colvin of Howard Rice giving SCAMP #1 a thorough shakedown.
Looks like we have just enough images for one more short blast •tomorrow. —Eds •SCA•

So many good photos - but, Howard's "control" during a time that needed it - priceless.
Is he only 20% in the boat? Always wondered about that bow. It looks as though it was helping control the moment as well. Great shot Debra
You could publish these everyday…thank you!
