Launched in early summer, 1999. The photo is from August 2006 after she’d had several good seasons of sailing. Remember Dynamite Payson and his passion for Designing boats anyone could build for just a few dollars? Great concept, but the quarter inch exterior plywood from a local lumber yard was having serious delaminating problems by 2021. She had a “viking’s funeral in the fall of that year.

Boat lift wheel makes it amphibious. We have a replica of a D-Day landing craft near us .Wood hull, shallow V forward , flat midsection, aft tunnel hull for prop. Originally designed for oil exploration in Gulf of Mexico. Marines insisted on a ramp. Designer Andrew Jackson Higgins. One veteran said if they'd known it was wood , they would never have set foot in it.

My Michalak Blobster, Bob, sailing and camping on Lake Macquarie NSW Australia. Bob is now nearly 16 years old and still going strong. I built with marine ply and plenty of epoxy so the boat will still be around in another 15 years time. Blobster is a wonderful design that works really well. Someone once said they did not know why the waters of the world were not packed with Bolger's Micro. I think the same could be said of Blobster.
Cheers. —Miles Bore
