It was almost by accident that I got involved with multihulls, and found myself building a Farrier F-22. My introduction to the subject was 10 years ago, when I rashly bought a derelict Hobie 16 catamaran, patched it up and sailed it for a few years. When I saw the Corsair F-24 folding trimaran that belonged to a local Hobie dealer, I was instantly boatstruck and soon found myself oogling the Farrier F-22, an exceptional smaller trimaran—lightweight, trailerable, fast and safe. (Proving itself in extreme conditions, an F-22 came in second in the 2015 Race to Alaska, missing the $10,000 first-place award but collecting the only other R2AK prize, a coveted set of steak knives.)
