Our friend Guy Light is a prolific small-boat builder, but the mechanically-minded Light always has a twist or two to add to whatever boat he builds. In this case he bought a Jimmy Skiff kit and worked to enchance several aspects of the design. Many of Guy’s mods could be adapated to similar small craft.
Reasons for choosing this design: “Initial stability of a flat bottom hull is higher than a more egg shaped hull. Simplicity of construction, and ease of modification. A 13-foot boat accommodates two people better than a 10-foot boat. Ability to sleep in the bottom of the boat, and large storage flotation tanks.”
