Not on my boat. I have never yet capsized a canoe and would not want to tempt fate with Nereid. A simple square headed sloop rig with a canoe jib and a leeboard on my Whitehall is enough for me. That twin square sail rig reminds me of a friend who used to say that there is no such thing as too much garlic.

One consideration in designing a rig is flexibility. Another is asking how much area the boat needs to perform well. Too little is no fun; too much is asking for a swim, if you are lucky.

Design takes adverse conditions into consideration. Mother nature can be a bitch and there is no guarantee she will not turn on you.
