Next summer, when I’ve finished building our 20-foot, 6-knot outboard cabin cruiser, I’m hoping to trailer up Vancouver Island from our Puget Sound location, launch at Gold River, BC, and camp-cruise out to Nootka Sound on the wild west coast of the island. I’d also like to repeat a small-boat cruise I did years ago, also on Vancouver Island, slowly exploring the wonders of Clayoquot Sound from a launch ramp in Tofino, on the outer coast. (Clayoquot is about the only bit of Vancouver Island that’s never been assaulted by the timber industry, so there’s a lot of virgin timber to appreciate.) - Marty Loken
