I have an ePropulsion for my Scamp. The high cost and lack of range are obvious disadvantages. But since I’m primarily a day sailor, range is never an issue. I love its many advantages: ease of maintenance, transport and storage and the quiet. And something I didn’t anticipate, I find myself using it briefly and intermittently to launch or return in more trying situations, quicly maneuver, turn the boat sharply in certain conditions, power-sail in light winds. And that can be done instantly without having to start/restart a combustion engine. I also opted for the remote, and so the power control is right at hand, and I utilize my boat’s tiller/rudder to steer.
I was involved in a major capsize in a friend's boat. The boat went round several times before being recovered by the French Savateures. His e-propulsion started first time and powered us home. A petrol engine would have been dead.
